The New Hampshire GIS
Conservation Collaborative
Who We Are
BACKGROUND
The New Hampshire GIS Conservation Collaborative (NHGCC) is a cooperative
effort of nonprofit, education, government, business, and grantmaking organizations
that are concerned about conservation and land-use planning issues in New Hampshire.
Over 25 organizations and agencies are active members of NHGCC. The Collaborative has
operated in an inclusive manner, with more than 60 organizations and individuals invited to
attend biennial meetings in the spring and fall. NHGCC members are convinced that
strengthening GIS technologies is one of the best ways to conserve important
natural resources and promote good planning in New Hampshire.
OUR MISSION
NHGCC's mission is to provide leadership, coordination, and support for GIS and related
technologies to enable sound land-use planning and accelerate the pace of conservation in
New Hampshire. We pursue our mission through three principal activities: networking and
information sharing; development and implementation of a Work
Plan and Action Strategy; and education and outreach to increase awareness and
support for GIS and geospatial technologies in New Hampshire.
OUR GOALS
NHGCC has identified four overarching goals for strengthening GIS and related
technologies in New Hampshire:
To expand GIS data and infrastructure in the state;
To broaden use of GIS data;
To expand educational and training opportunities; and
To increase public awareness and support for GIS.
One of the Collaborative's flagship projects has been the development of a joint
Work Plan and Action Strategy laying out its goals, objectives, and action strategy
for strengthening GIS technologies in New Hampshire over the next three years.
